Frequently asked questions

  • Why do I need to learn brain imaging? Doesn't the radiology report have all the information I need?

The radiology reports don’t have all the information you need! This is because the radiologist’s role is to examine the brain scans and suggest the most likely diagnosis. As such they are more interested in the pathological processes underlying the lesion rather than its exact location. We, as rehabilitation clinicians need to know the exact location and extent of the lesion to analyse its impacts on function.

  • Will I actually be able to learn brain imaging?

Yes you will! You might doubt that you’re capable of learning these skills, but I KNOW that you can, because 200+ rehabilitation clinicians (from various disciplines) already learnt these skills. I have developed a framework for teaching you brain imaging, where the theory is just the beginning. I teach bite size chunks, and explain complicated concepts in a simple manner. I include lots of practical work to enable you to translate your learning into clinical practice. Read the reviews on: https://www.g.page/brain-rehabilitation.

  • What does the course involve?

There are two parts to this course. The pre course learning involves about 2 hrs of self-paced learning. You'll get access to this learning material as soon as you enrol. The second part is the in-person day, where we'll work mainly on case studies. This way you'll learn how to use the brain imaging information to improve assessments, treatments and estimations of the expected recovery.

  • What is unique about this course?

The uniqueness of this course is in my teaching style. I have extensive clinical experience (since 1995), in-depth brain imaging and neuroscience knowledge (especially since my PhD) and the gift of explaining complicated concepts simply. Furthermore, I’ll teach you skills (of clinical radiology) that were not available elsewhere until I started teaching them. Another unique aspect of this course is that whenever I teach you a new concept, I integrate it immediately with a practical task. The practical tasks are designed to teach you how to translate the theory into clinical practice so that you can apply it to your clients immediately. I take this approach to ensure that anything I teach, moves you towards being able to assess and treat your clients better.
